Ayurvedic Food: Coconut & Date Balls

This time around we have a great snack for those of you that have a sweet tooth: Deliciously mouth-watering coconut and date balls. 

The coconut & date balls are completely without any added sugar. The natural sweetness is derived from dates and raisins. This sweetness mixed with the delicious and exotic flavour of coconut and cinnamon is pure delight for the taste buds. 

By the way: Cinnamon has a stimulating effect on the circulation and digestion process. A study showed that cinnamon also resulted in a decrease in blood glucose and cholesterol levels.

Recipe

serving for 15 - 20 balls

⅔ of a cup soaked dates

⅓ of a cup raisins

150 g coconut flakes

150 g finely ground nuts (of your own choosing)

1 tsp cinnamon

Preparation

Soak the nuts and dates in water overnight. Cut the dates into small pieces and mix with the finely ground nuts and remaining ingredients. 

Form small balls and roll in raw cacao powder or coconut flakes. Store in the refrigerator (will last between three or four days).
