The appearance of the plant is similar to the Siberian rhubarb, which also has its origins in Central Asia. Both forms have a large rhizomatous roots, which are harvested from a 6-10-year-old plant in spring or autumn. A yellow hue can be obtained from the leaves, but it has little strength in comparison to the color obtained from the root, which is a more intense and warm solid yellow color.
