Umbelliferous plant with a distinctive taste
Cumin is an annual that grows up to 50 cm tall and has yellowish-brown fruits that split when ripe. It is grown mainly in India, Indonesia, China, Iran and the southern Mediterranean. Its typical intense taste is unmistakable. In Ayurveda, cumin is particularly important for the Vata Dosha. Cumin is particularly delicious with legumes dishes such as Indian dals.
