Description
Pink pepper belongs to the family of Anacardiaceae (sumac). The Schinus tree has pink, berry-like fruits that are sweet, slightly resinous and similar in taste to juniper. Pink pepper is cultivated in Peru, Brazil and on Reunion island.
The pink berries taste deliciously fruity, slightly sweet and have a mild peppery finish. The flavor is reminiscent of juniper berries.
Tips & Preparation:
If you want to refine your dish with pink pepper, it is best to add it to an otherwise mild dish. Pink pepper has a light flavor that fits well with fish, asparagus and other vegetables.
